Why was I invited to join Alpha Lambda Delta?
You were invited because you've attained a 3.5 or higher GPA in your first year or term in higher education, and you're in the top 20% of your class after the first year or term.
How much does it cost?
Lifetime dues for Alpha Lambda Delta at UC Riverside are $70. This includes your National dues, a chapter t-shirt for your first year, and lifetime membership!
Can I lose membership in Alpha Lambda Delta if my grades drop?
No. Although Alpha Lambda Delta encourages academic excellence throughout your collegiate career, once you have met the criteria for membership in Alpha Lambda Delta and have been initiated, your membership can not be taken away.
In 2004, the National Council did approve a change in the bylaws allowing chapters to remove from membership any members who had been found in violation of their school's academic honesty policy.
How much time commitment does Alpha Lambda Delta require?
Almost none! Be as involved as you can be in Alpha Lambda Delta. While we certainly encourage you to be active in your local chapter's activities, there's no national requirement for activity in your chapter. Every year, the chapter "requirements" change based on the availability of events to attend, however ALD is here for you as a resource, not as a hindering time commitment. You've already earned the grades, now accept the recognition!

- Recognition at a chapter initiation ceremony, where you will receive a membership certificate and an ALD lapel pin. Parents are encouraged to attend and share in their student's accomplishment.
- The opportunity to compete for over $190,000 each year awarded as scholarships and fellowships to deserving ALD members as well as chapter scholarships.
- Opportunities to work with other outstanding students on campus and community service projects, to meet with them in chapter service projects, and to be noticed as an outstanding scholar by the campus community as a whole.
- Opportunities to grow as a leader, both at the local and national level.
- Members are allowed to wear ALD Senior Honor Cords at graduation, marking them as exceptional scholars on their special day.
